GLENDALE High School swimming duo Sam Burns and Daniel Landenberger have returned from the Special Olympics National Titles brimming with confidence and laden with medals.
The two NSW representatives earned six medals between them.
Sam, 15, won silver in the 100m freestyle event and bronze in the 50m freestyle.
Daniel, also 15, took silver in the 50m free, bronze in the 50m butterfly and the 50m backstroke. He also collected a silver away from the pool in the basketball skills event.
The boys' year 9 teacher Allison Preston told the News this week this was the first time the pair had travelled away with the Special Olympics team and not with their families.
"That's a really big step for them," Ms Preston said. "They left on the bus with the full team, and stayed at the AIS, attended the full ceremony and march.
"It was a huge learning curve for them and a wonderful achievement."
